This week’s blog post comes to us from Romina, one of the valuable members of our team at Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun! She explains how one special culinary tradition at the resort creates lasting memories for our guests.

“It’s a typical sunny Saturday at Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun. People are enjoying a relaxing day at the pool, and some of them already know what’s about to happen–but nothing is the same as witnessing this experience in person.

Everyone is hungry, and it is around 1 p.m. A man spots people looking away and then shouts, “There they are!” Lo and behold, the chefs are walking towards the pool carrying delicious food for everybody. People are rushing to get their cameras to capture this special moment!

The all chefs gather around the pool in their white hates to have their pictures taken. It is a special occasion to see these people—those responsible for all of the delicious meals—who are otherwise always behind the scenes, unseen.

After posing for a few minutes, the show begins and the guests look on in amazement. One man even exclaims, “I can’t believe that the chef is going into the pool!” Well, you better believe it’s true! They not only go into the pool, but they even use a kayak to get to you.

Vacation takes a whole new meaning when guests are pampered in this unique way! Now, everyone who has read the comments online about the show knows what it actually feels like to see this experience.

As far as food goes, we have a myriad of tastes fit for everyone—these include tacos al pastor, sandwiches, sushi, pizza, hot dogs and more. After guests enjoy their meals, out come the fresh coconuts and aguas frescas (typical flavored water served in Mexico). Finally, the entire experience is crowned with dessert–ice cream, pastries, cake and fruit cocktails. Lunch wouldn’t be complete without it!

The serving dishes are empty and it’s time for the chefs to leave, knowing that people are now satisfied and extremely pleased that they witnessed such a magical event. Off they go back to their kitchens, wishing everyone another beautiful day in paradise.”
