After an excellent year of productive work, Secrets Maroma Beach is proud to announce that we have been certified by the Rainforest Alliance for our environmentally friendly practices.

How does Rainforest Alliance certification work?Rainforest certified

The Rainforest Alliance recognizes companies who are committed to reducing their environmental impact internally and in the surrounding community.

What practices allowed Secrets Maroma Beach to be accredited as a Rainforest Alliance member?

Our daily work involves each and every one of our staff members who are committed to the following environmentally friendly practices: recycling, separating waste (PET, PEAD, paper, paperboard, glass, aluminum, burned cooking oil, etc.), saving energy, treating water, frequently cleaning our spectacular beach of micro waste, providing biodegradable bathroom amenities and, last but not least, using cleaning products made from a very low range of chemical agents.

All of these activities are regulated by our Environmental Manager Roberto Abam who works with international NGO, “Programa Amigos Sianka’an,” to ensure that we are maintaining a high level of environmental responsibility. “Programa Amigos Sianka’an” is dedicated to preserving the Biosphere Reserve located from Isla Contoy to Isla Holbox.

What can you do as a guest to get involved?

If you decide to be part of this movement as a guest, there are a few ways you can help. You can reuse bath and beach towels, separate recyclable waste, turn off the lights and television in your room when they are not being used, make rational use of water, avoid feeding local wildlife, keep bed sheets one more night, use biodegradable sunscreen and purchase local products.

Help us in preserving one of the most beautiful beaches in the world!
