Congratulations to Secrets Huatulco Resort & Spa!

The Implementers of the Standard for Sustainable Tourism on Rainforest Alliance and AMResorts Meeting took place on June 22 and June 23, 2017 in Playa Mujeres, Mexico. Stories were shared of the resort’s successful operation in synergy, which is an example of a smart coordination and teamwork.

During the event’s closing ceremony, Mr. Saúl Blanco – Rainforest Alliance Sustainable Tourism Specialist, announced that 2017, as declared by the United Nations, is the “international year of sustainable tourism for development,” it was decided to recognize those leaders who assertively have contributed significantly to this cause by adding ideas and actions to achieve dramatic changes, all while continuously managing innovation for the common well-being of our planet.

The first distinction was given to Secrets Huatulco for their outstanding performance in the hotel sector, mentioning that qualifications not only considered the results within the AMResorts Corporation, but took into consideration the results obtained after the analysis of all certified hotels globally.

In its most recent assessment, the resort obtained an efficiency performance of 99.44% of required indicators, which made them “Leaders of Sustainable Tourism”.

This award was received by Ms. Angelica Angon, General Manager of Secrets Huatulco, who thanked and expressed that this recognition raises the commitment of all employees and resorts’ staff in terms of sustainability.
