Secrets Resorts & Spas hosted the Heart of Mexico Food & Wine Festival!
Food is the heart of Mexican culture. The country’s cuisine has a rich history inspired by a fusion of cultural influences. So this September, we welcomed our guests and renowned celebrity chefs in honor of the authentic flavors of Mexico, celebrating with exclusive access to private, gourmet events at four luxury resorts in Cancun and the Riviera Maya. Unique culinary experiences at host resorts included cooking classes with executive chefs, artisan mezcal and tequila tastings, beer-making classes, themed gourmet dinners and more!
The festival consisted of distinctive events spread out over four days in September:
September 27 — Seafood Festival at Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun
Voted one of the best beaches in the world by the Travel Channel, Maroma Beach hosted Chef Alfredo Heredia. Seafood fans enjoyed fresh, local delicacies of the sea prepared with a Mexican flair.
September 28 — Flavors of the Yucatan Beer Festival at Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya
Citrus, habaneros, smoke – guests experienced the regional flavors of Mexico prepared by Top Chef Mexico Judge, Juantxo Sanchez. Dinner was complemented with a selection of over 50 types of beer, including 15 regional craft beers. Mariachi bands and live dance performances rounded out the unique ambiance.

September 29 — Emociones Gala Dinner at Secrets The Vine Cancun
Diners began the closing night of the festival with an artisan tequila and mezcal tasting followed by a 6-course gala dinner prepared by Chef Josefina Santacruz, Chef Lalo Plascencia and Chef Sergio Camacho to unveil the resort’s own Mexican wine.
